Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Nance-Coker has unanimously been elected as the new Coordinator of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of South Carolina. Dr. Nance-Coker currently serves as the pastor of Lakeview Baptist Church in Camden, SC, and has extensive experience in music ministry and worship in a variety of locations and denominational traditions. She also brings to CBFSC significant leadership experience in a variety of contexts, to include community and denominational boards, agencies and councils. Her spiritual and pastoral experience in serving congregations for over forty years has given her an enthusiasm for cultivating relationships between people, encouraging the development of community through engagement in shared experiences and providing opportunities for people to grow in faith as they follow Christ together.
Dr. Nance-Coker earned the Doctorate of Worship Studies from The Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, which is housed at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church (CBF) in Jacksonville, Florida. She earned a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance, specializing in Baroque Oratorio from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She was ordained into the gospel ministry at Emmanuel Baptist Fellowship in 2016 and has served as a member and Chair of the Nominating Committee of CBFSC.
Dr. Nance-Coker says, “Coming into the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship was a spiritually significant and decisive move into the denomination, inspired by treasured relationships with CBF pastors, leaders and churches in South Carolina.”
She is married to Dennis Coker, a Health Care Administrator and retired career Army Officer. They are the proud parents of three grown children and two teenagers.
Dr. Nance-Coker will begin her tenure as CBFSC Coordinator on June 20, 2022.
