Hurricane Matthew Columbia Track _1475594431364_6354477_ver1.0.jpgHurricane Matthew (updated 10/10): Despite loss of power, wind-blown debris, and shingle/siding damage, it appears that churches affiliated with CBFSC weathered Hurricane Matthew well. With churches intact, we are assessing damage and opportunities to respond in partnership with local congregations, SC officials, and disaster response partners. If you have a mission team seeking to provide clean-up or recovery work, please contact the CBFSC office: 803-779-1888 or and we will help connect you a place of service.

Please keep in mind: Often the best early response to a disaster is to give money so that agencies and ministries can purchase needed supplies appropriate for their needs and context.

Your contributions to CBFSC’s disaster response will be used to support responding partners, church teams, individuals impacted by disaster, and to purchase supplies related to our response.

Collection efforts for emergency items should be coordinated as closely as possible with CBFSC and locally affected congregations.  The SC Emergency Management Division will have an updated list of needed items on their web site that will be most helpful to those in need, no matter the circumstances.

If your church, Sunday School class, or friends would like to send a work team to help in an affected area, please contact the CBFSC office ( for more information and to add your name to our response list.
