Learn More About CBFSC
Elizabeth Nance-Coker
CBFSC Coordinator
Elizabeth earned a B.A. in Secondary Music Education, with minors in English, History, Speech Communication, and Elementary Education from St. Mary’s University; a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Texas at San Antonio; and a Doctor of Worship Studies, with a theological focus upon the Psalms of Lament, from The Robert E. Webber Institute.
Her initial call into ministry occurred after hearing the legendary Molly Marshall speak during Baptist Student Week at Glorieta Conference Center while Elizabeth was a freshman student at East Texas Baptist College. Having served for decades through music and discipleship ministries in a variety of locations and denominational traditions, Elizabeth returned to Baptist life when she discovered the free and faithful Baptists of CBFSC. Elizabeth is the former pastor of Lakeview Baptist Church in Camden.
As a former career military family, Elizabeth and her husband Dennis enjoyed living throughout the United States and overseas. Now making their home in Columbia, they are the proud parents of three grown children and two teenagers. Elizabeth enjoys reading, cross stitching historic samplers, and long walks with their dogs Rosie and Charlie.
Josh Hunt
CBFSC Associate Coordinator
Josh Hunt serves as the Associate Coordinator of CBF South Carolina, bringing over two decades of pastoral experience and a deep commitment to collaborative ministry. Since moving to South Carolina more than ten years ago, Josh has served CBFSC in numerous volunteer roles, helping to strengthen the network of churches and leaders across the state.
Originally from Virginia, Josh first sensed a call to ministry as a high school senior while attending a youth camp at Eagle Eyrie Baptist Conference Center. His educational journey reflects a deep love for both faith and community: he earned a B.A. in Sociology and Religion from Carson-Newman University, an M.Div. in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Gardner-Webb University, and a D.Min. in Church Leadership and Community Witness from Candler School of Theology at Emory University.
Before joining the CBFSC staff, Josh served for over 20 years in congregational ministry, most recently as the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Anderson, South Carolina.
Josh and his wife, Sacha—a dedicated public school teacher—are proud parents of two sons. As a family, they love exploring new places and sharing a deep appreciation for theatre and the arts.
Debbie Haag
CBFSC Administrator
Debbie lives in West Columbia, has a daughter (Madelyn), is “Nana” to two beautiful grandchildren, and is an international “Mom” to two wonderful exchange students. She has worked in various fields, including bookkeeping, insurance and paralegal work, but came to work for CBFSC the first time in 1998 as the secretary when the office in Columbia was first opened.
She left in October of 2000 when her daughter was born, but returned to CBFSC in January of 2008. Debbie enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, spoiling grandchildren, and movie/game nights.
Amy Cook
Communications / Graphic Design
Amy is a graphic designer who does projects for CBF South Carolina, as well as a number of other CBF entities. She is responsible for designing all of the branded communications and promotional pieces that CBFSC produces, such as the General Assembly program Missions promotional materials, and publicity brochures.
Amy earned an M.Div. from the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, and a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been a freelance graphic designer since 2002 with a focus on designing materials for churches, non-profits and other ministry-related organizations.
Married to Stephen Cook, who serves as senior pastor at Second Baptist Church in Memphis, the Cooks and their two sons enjoy traveling, and have already visited all 50 states together.
Alan Williams
Disaster Recovery Coordinator
Alan is a native of Georgia who previously served in the U.S. Air Force, and as an emergency management and E911 systems administrator for Beaufort County. He retired from a position with Savannah Communication in 2015, then served as the Disaster Response coordinator for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of South Carolina before becoming the US Disaster Response Director for CBF Global in 2016.
A former Eagle Scout, Alan has a passion for disaster preparedness, and enjoys working alongside congregations of Baptists and other faith groups in this ministry field. He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and network connections to this role.
Alan and his wife, Melanie, enjoy visiting their children and grandchildren in North Carolina, and participating in church life with them when they are there.
Tom Sisson
Emergency Management Coordinator
Tom Sisson was born in upstate New York and grew up close by both sets of grandparents. His Grandmother Betty picked him up every Sunday for church and brunch at her house. He played sports and became an excellent tennis player. He has a younger brother who is a retired police officer living in Lexington, KY.
He was the first in his family to attend college, choosing Baylor University on an academic scholarship with the opportunity to play Division 1 tennis. He always loved science and graduated with a degree in Chemistry and moved on to the University of Arizona receiving a Ph.D. in organic chemistry.
His first professional job was with SC Johnson in Wisconsin. After living in Arizona, the cold weather was too bitter and after 3 years he moved to Charleston, SC working for a chemical company. He developed a comprehensive career encompassing various technical and commercial positions, ultimately advancing to an executive role as the Director of Technology. Soon after moving to Charleston, he looked for a Baptist church and found Providence on Daniel Island, less than a mile from his house. He became involved in missions, taught Sunday school for adults and children, as well as running the sound board for service.
Most importantly, it was at Providence that he met his wife Renè. They have one son, Jason, who recently bought a fixer-upper which helps Tom hone his handyman skills. Tom and Renè love to hike and are on a quest to visit all of the National Parks. Outside of Providence he is involved with Habitat for Humanity, Metanoia, and Halos.
