Supporting Healthy Clergy
At CBF South Carolina, we believe healthy ministers are essential to healthy congregations.
That’s why we’re deeply committed to the holistic well-being of clergy across our state. Whether you’re navigating a new call, discerning a transition, recovering from burnout, or simply seeking connection, CBFSC walks alongside you with care and intention.
We support clergy health in a variety of ways:
- Peer Learning Groups – Safe, confidential spaces for ministers to reflect, grow, and encourage one another.
- Retreats and Sabbatical Support – Opportunities for rest, renewal, and reconnection with purpose.
- Pastoral Coaching and Mentoring – One-on-one and group support to strengthen leadership and nurture spiritual depth.
- Financial Grants and Continuing Education – Assistance with counseling, training, and professional development.
- Encouragement in Times of Transition – Whether celebrating a new chapter or walking through uncertainty, you’re not alone.
Ministry can be lonely—but it doesn’t have to be. CBFSC is a trusted partner in your journey, championing sustainability, resilience, and joy in your calling.

Clergy Resources
At CBFSC, we understand the joys and challenges of guiding a congregation. That’s why our Church Resources page gathers the very best of Healthy Congregations programming—leadership training, retreats, and Peer Learning Groups—to provide practical, spiritually enriching support for church leaders. Explore this space to discover how your congregation can grow in capacity, connection, and purpose.
Baptist Women in Ministry
Baptist Women in Ministry (BWIM) is a supportive and growing network within CBFSC, dedicated to affirming, equipping, and celebrating the gifts of women called to ministry across South Carolina. We believe that women’s voices and leadership bring vital perspective and strength to the life of the church.
Through meaningful programming, BWIM provides spaces for connection, reflection, and advocacy. Each year, ministers gather for retreats—like the January event at Dreher Island State Park—that create opportunities for rest, renewal, and mutual encouragement.
Whether through fellowship, learning, or advocacy, BWIM seeks to nurture women in ministry and invite congregations into the work of equity and celebration.
Coaching Grants
Grants for Healthy Clergy offer key financial support to ministers and congregations through thoughtfully designed resources from CBFSC. For individual clergy, Coaching and Spiritual Direction Grants offset up to 80% of coaching costs—up to $400 per minister—and are paid directly to certified professionals to support pastoral resilience, well-being, and leadership growth. Applicants must be members of CBF South Carolina through congregational affiliation or personal contributions, or be staff or endorsed chaplains in the CBF network.
Additionally, Mission Project Grants empower congregations to bring life-changing local ministry projects to fruition. Partnering churches can apply for funding between $500 and $1,500 to initiate or expand community missions that reflect CBFSC’s mission commitments—cultivating beloved community, bearing witness to Jesus Christ, and pursuing transformational development. These grants catalyze grassroots ministry impact across the state
Scholarships
Scholarships for Healthy Clergy at CBFSC provide vital financial assistance to aspiring ministers pursuing theological education in South Carolina. One such opportunity is the Marion D. Aldridge Scholarship Fund, which supports divinity students in their journey toward ministry leadership.
The CBFSC Leadership Development Committee is entrusted with overseeing these scholarships, underscoring CBFSC’s long-term commitment to nurturing future church leaders through meaningful educational support
Connected to CBF Global
We are proud to be part of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Global, a larger network of mission-minded Christians working in more than 30 countries around the world. Our connection to CBF Global allows us to collaborate on international mission efforts, respond to global crises, and support field personnel serving among the most vulnerable.
Together—locally and globally—we are part of a story that is bigger than any one church, one community, or one organization. It’s the story of God’s healing love in the world.
