Supporting Churches Across South Carolina
Strengthening Our Churches and Each Other
The Congregational Ministries of CBF form the vibrant heart of our shared calling—helping congregational leaders and their churches flourish in mission, formation, and faithful service. These ministries offer a rich array of resources and opportunities—including leadership development, retreat‑style learning experiences, Peer Learning Groups, discernment tools like Dawnings, and financial stewardship support—designed to encourage growth, collaboration, and spiritual resilience in congregations. Through intentional gatherings, learning cohorts, and innovative program models, CBF supports churches as they discern their unique calling, nurture rooted relationships, and engage creatively in God’s transforming work in their communities and beyond.
Baptist Identity Resources
The Congregational Life Team of CBF South Carolina was tasked with discovering perceived needs within our churches. The goal was to provide a resource to help meet those needs.
After gathering church leaders and analyzing multiple discussions, several areas of common ground were revealed. In their own unique ways, churches described four needs:
- Knowing Our History
- Sharing Our Story
- Growing in Christian Hospitality
- Trusting the Holy Spirit
CBF South Carolina is pleased to present a four-session video series focused on providing context and information designed to foster local church-specific conversations. These videos are approximately 20–30 minutes, followed by discussion questions written by Amy Jennings. Our video presenters are: Cheryl Moore Adamson (pastor; executive director of Palmetto Works CDC); Paul Baxley (executive coordinator for CBF Global); Jay Kieve (abuse prevention & response advocate for CBF Global; director of ministerial transitions for CBF Global); Christen Kinard (founder of Digital Congregations); Elizabeth Nance-Coker (coordinator for CBF South Carolina); and Mark Tidsworth (former pastor; author; leadership trainer for Pinnacle Leadership Associates).
A poster and bulletin insert are provided for churches to promote this valuable resource. Please use this resource in ways that will facilitate deep, honest conversation among your people.
